Overview
Tanzania Fish Innovation and Resource Centre (TAFIRC) is implementing an innovative One Stop Centre facility for fish and dagaa processing, storage, and marketing, aimed at reducing post-harvest losses, improving food security, and empowering women in the fisheries sector. The centre will also serve as a hub for innovation, capacity building, and community collaboration, empowering women in fisheries through skills development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable resource management.

This initiative builds on a 2022 consultative process conducted by Environmental Management and Economic Development Organization (EMEDO) with women fish processors and traders across Mwanza, Mara, Kagera, Simiyu, and Geita regions, which identified key challenges such as limited access to markets, technology, and decision-making spaces, as well as high post-harvest losses.

Therefore, TAFIRC is seeking qualified, motivated, and dynamic individuals to fill the following positions:

1. OPERATIONS OFFICER
Duty Station: Musoma region, Tanzania
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the One Stop Centre (processing, storage, and logistics)
• Ensure quality control, hygiene, and safety standards in fish/dagaa processing
• Coordinate fish aggregation, storage, and supply systems
• Supervise processing activities (drying, smoking, packaging)
• Support implementation of training programs for women processors and traders
• Ensure efficient use of equipment and facilities
• Work closely with fishers to ensure sustainable sourcing and supply

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Sciences, or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in fisheries operations or post-harvest handling
• Knowledge of fish processing technologies and quality standards
• Experience working with community groups or women’s organizations is an added advantage

Key Competencies:

• Strong operational and organizational skills
• Understanding of fisheries value chains
• Leadership and team coordination
• Problem-solving and adaptability

2. MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Duty Station: Musoma region, Tanzania
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement marketing and branding strategies for fish/dagaa products
• Identify and expand local and regional markets (including Congo, Rwanda, Burundi)
• Manage partnerships with institutions and digital platforms.
• Support product branding, packaging, and promotion
• Coordinate trade fairs, exhibitions, and promotional events
• Provide business development support and entrepreneurship training
• Oversee financial tracking, reporting, and basic administrative functions
• Support e-commerce and digital marketing initiatives

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance, or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in marketing, business development, or enterprise support
• Experience in agribusiness, fisheries, or value chain development is an added advantage

Key Competencies:

• Strong marketing and communication skills
• Financial and administrative management skills
• Experience with digital marketing and e-commerce
• Networking and partnership-building skills
