Job Purpose/Mission
Ignite Energy Access is looking for a bold, execution-focused Managing Director to lead and scale our Tanzania operations. This role is about turning ambition into results—building on Ignite’s strong solar home systems business while accelerating the growth of Productive Use of Energy (PUE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) energy solutions to reach millions more customers.

As Managing Director, you will have full responsablity & accountability for country performance, leading a high-performing team and a strong local leadership bench. Responsibilities
Strategy, Growth & Performance

  • Provide strategic and hands-on operational leadership across country operations, ensuring full alignment with Ignite Energy Access’s growth objectives, operating standards, and execution discipline across Solar Home Systems (SHS), Productive Use of Energy (PUE), and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solutions.
  • Continuously evolve the country business model to drive scale, improve customer engagement, strengthen portfolio quality, and deliver sustained, profitable growth.

Commercial & Portfolio Leadership

  • Drive pricing, credit, product, distribution, and customer engagement strategies to maximize repayment performance and minimize portfolio risk.
  • Lead and empower national teams to consistently exceed sales, deployment, and collections targets across multiple product lines.

Job Purpose/Mission
The Head of Operations Department is responsible for overseeing and managing the country’s end-to end Operations Department operations to ensure product availability in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Driving effectiveness and continuous risk management and compliance for operations:
    • OSHA Compliance

  • Plans and forecasts budgets with other Heads of department (Service Assurance, Credit, Commercial and Finance) as per the forecast and operational requirements to ensure demand <> supply alignment.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry would be an added advantage.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of master’s degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Industrial Management, Production and Operations Management or related fields from a recognized University. A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Supply Chain Board Certifications such as CILT, CSCP, CIPS, PSPTB, NBMM or any other related boards are highly preferred.
  • Technology-agnostic skills, Kwith working knowledge of working tools as databases for inventory and logistics management systems / databases (DBMS)
  • Certifications in Six Sigma or any other operational compliance certification is a big plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the importation and exportation of Solar Products within East Africa; EA import laws (EAC-CMA), Import Duty Tax regime (TRA), Bureau of Standards (TBS), Ports Authorities (KPA, TPA), and CFS / ICDs within in EA region.
  • Knowledge of forecasting, demand management, cycle times, and highly lskillful in planning of on-ground logistical activities for high efficiency.

Job Purpose
Warehouse Officer is responsible for the warehousing of Mobisol’s new (UNUSED) products. This involves supervision of physical stock handling in the warehouse with minimum damage to products and product packages, while maintaining proper record(s) of transactions in provided tools

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain warehouse and inventory yard areas for efficient, safe, and clean material storage and handling in line with warehouse management principles such as first-in-first-out (FIFO).
  • Ensure integrity of all movements of stock in and out of the warehouse, recorded in bin cards, stock control sheets and administered correctly in the Database.
  • Reporting of all the received shipments at the warehouse such as containers, airfreights and small parcels (offloading reports, quality and quantity).
  • Administration of documents per delivery shipment including delivery notes (hard copy and digital), inventory sheets, and ensuring digital data compliance (database transports).
  • Execute planned distribution by ensuring preparation and organization, of all required new products.
  • Receive TV spare parts (screens and motherboards) from incoming shipments, record all details in the excel tool, track their consumption and every month report to
  • Warehouse and workshop Manager on the inventory status and usage of TV spare parts (screens and motherboard).
  • React to abrupt and unplanned stock requirements as they occur by: Reacting to emergency deliveries of new (UNUSED) product demands.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reconciled stock reports for the warehouse (new ‘unused’ products) and submit to the inventory control officers for auditing and controlling purposes (loop in Warehouse and Workshop Manager).
  • Accountable and responsible for stock discrepancies of the new (UNUSED) products, in the dedicated warehouse.
  • Adhere to warehouse safety procedures, especially limiting admissions into the warehouse, ensuring incoming and outgoing stock items are clearly separated to docking stations, and ensuring loading yard areas for assembly and distribution are well maintained.
  • Drive the adherence and compliance to existing inventory management policies and guidelines to ensure product quality and value preservation in the warehouse.
  • Ensure continuous improvement across the warehouse using techniques such as (Kaizen and 5s, Six Sigma) by identifying constant improvement areas and formulating approaches for improvement

Job Purpose
The role leads the delivery of integrated initiatives around stakeholder management, engagement, advocacy and influencing within and outside the organization. The role is responsible for overseeing external stakeholder engagement of Ignite Energy Access (IEA) activities and events to raise the profile of the organization and create awareness on the benefits of a sustainable renewable energy such as solar. This role will oversee the development and execution of strategy for IEA Tanzania in collaboration with the Country Director. The Business Strategy Manager is also responsible for leading high level business analyses and provide analytical input to improve the company’s operating performance.

Responsibilities
Fundraising, Grants and Donor Management

  • Determine grant funding needs based on strategic objectives.
  • Draft and submit grant proposals in line with strategic objectives.
  • Managing grant allocation, claims, and disbursement processes, optimizing for accuracy, value to the business and meeting agreed disbursement targets with donor partners.
  • Act as a first point of contact for all operational interaction with donors.
  • Manage all reporting requirements and other documentation for grant programs and government agencies and ensure team compliance with terms and conditions of complex grant and contract agreements.

Strategy

  • Support the development and implementation of IEA Tanzania’s long-term strategic plans.
  • Drive cross-functional strategic initiatives by working with all departments to implement initiatives and ensure all milestones are achieved.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of five (7) years’ management experience and at least two (2) of which should be working with a senior management.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing) in English to produce professional documents of national and international standards and participate in policy discussions and debates
