Position: Senior Mine Geologist (2 position)
Reports to: Mine Geology Superintendent
Duty Station: Nyanzaga, Sengerema, Mwanza
Contract type: Specified Period of Time Contract
Position purpose
The Senior Mine Geologist is directly accountable for leading all daily GC activities in the open pit and for delivering robust geological inputs in line with the MMP. The role leads GC block modelling and wireframing, plans and supervises RC grade control drilling, and manages GC sampling and logging to ensure precise ore– waste delineation and strict control of dilution and ore loss.
The Senior Mine Geologist safeguards the accuracy and integrity of all geological data through validation and effective database management, ensuring that operational decisions are based on reliable, up-to date information. The role is also responsible for operational EOM reporting and mine-to-mill reconciliation, and has clear accountability for defining and applying NAF/PAF criteria, and for ensuring material is routed correctly to waste rock dumps (WRDs), NAF/PAF destinations with operational and environmental requirements.
Roles and responsibilities
Management of safety, environment and community relations
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership and promote a strong safety culture within the Mine Geology team.
- Participate in the development, review and updating of JHAs/JSAs and SOPs for mine geology and grade control tasks, and ensure the team understands and applies these procedures.
- Identify geology-related hazards at pit faces and drill patterns (access, bench edges, interaction with equipment, heat, dust, visibility) and intervene or stop work where conditions are unsafe.
- Support community and environmental objectives by working in line with site requirements and respecting local customs and practices.
People management
- Supervise and mentor Mine Geologists, Junior Geologists and Grade Control Technicians to build capability in GC drilling supervision, sampling, logging, GC wireframing, GC block modelling, database management and reconciliation.
- Allocate daily and weekly tasks, set clear expectations for data quality, safety and field discipline, and monitor performance.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to develop national staff, supporting structured competency development and succession planning.
- Contribute to performance reviews with objective feedback on technical skills, safety performance and behaviours.
Operations GC drilling and sampling
- Plan and supervise RC GC drilling programs to achieve appropriate data density for ore–waste delineation in line with the MMP.
- Define and maintain NAF/PAF coding and classification requirements and ensure they are applied in drilling instructions, logging and sampling.
- Coordinate with Survey and drilling contractors to deliver safe, accurate drilling and oversee RC and blast-hole sampling, including chain of custody.
- Lead QA/QC for GC sampling (standards, blanks, duplicates, repeats) and investigate and close out any QA/QC issues.
GC wireframing and block modelling
- Maintain and update GC mineralisation wireframes using current drilling, mapping and logging data.
- Build and update short-range GC block models to support ore mark-up, short-term planning and dilution control.
- Produce and communicate key sections and plans for use by Mining, Planning and Metallurgy.
Ore mark-up, ROM pad & WRD / NAF–PAF support
- Issue clear, accurate ore polygons and dig plans to Mining and Survey to minimise ore loss and dilution and meet grade targets.
- Provide geological input to ROM pad stockpile building and reclaim to maintain stable crusher feed.
- Provide operational guidance on NAF/PAF classification and coding and ensure correct routing of material to WRDs, NAF/PAF destinations.
Data & database management
- Ensure all GC drilling, sampling, logging and assay data are captured, validated and loaded into the geological database in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, auditable GC database (including NAF/PAF coding) with robust data validation and QA/QC checks.
- Generate regular data outputs (sections, plans, grade/tonnage summaries) to support Planning, Mining and Metallurgy.
Reconciliation and reporting
- Lead operational reconciliation: GC model vs mined (survey) and mined ore vs plant feed in collaboration with Metallurgy and Mining.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation summaries, including tonnage, grade, dilution and ore loss, and explain key variances and trends.
- Identify reconciliation issues (model, sampling, mining practice) and drive corrective actions with Mine Geology, Mining, Survey and Metallurgy; provide GC inputs to weekly and monthly site reports.
Desire
- Proficiency with Micromine for wireframing, modelling and grade control.
- Experience with Acquire for data management and QA/QC.
- Experience in greenfield to operational ramp-up projects.
- Experience working in remote, multicultural environments.
Qualifications and licences
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional membership desired.
- Valid driver’s licence suitable for mine site conditions.
Supply Chain Compliance Supervisor (Business Analyst) – 1 Position
Position: Supply Chain Compliance Supervisor (Business Analyst) – 1 Position
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Position purpose
The Supply Chain Compliance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all procurement, goods contracting, and logistics activities are conducted in full compliance with company governance standards and Tanzania regulatory requirements, including Tanzania Mining Commission (TMC) and local content obligations.
The role provides structured compliance oversight across the supply chain function to mitigate commercial, regulatory, and audit risks while maintaining governance integrity and transparency.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular compliance reviews of procurement, goods contracts, and logistics activities.
- Verify that Purchase Orders exceeding USD 100,000 are supported by valid approved contracts.
- Monitor contract utilisation to ensure approved values and contract periods are not exceeded.
- Ensure contract variations or amendments requiring TMC approval are submitted on time.
- Control and monitor sole-source procurement activities in line with company and regulatory thresholds.
- Ensure procurement documentation complies with delegation of authority and governance standards.
- Monitor compliance with Tanzanian mining regulations and local content requirements.
- Track local supplier participation and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Provide oversight of logistics compliance, importation processes, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct periodic compliance audits and implement corrective action plans where gaps are identified.
- Prepare compliance reports for Supply Chain Management and senior leadership.
- Identify and mitigate governance, regulatory, and commercial risks.
- Provide guidance and training to supply chain personnel on procurement standards and compliance requirements.
- Promote ethical procurement practices and accountability across the supply chain function.
Qualification/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Commerce, Business Administration, Law, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in procurement, contracts, compliance, or supply chain governance within mining or heavy industry.
- Experience working with Tanzanian regulatory frameworks and local content requirements is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of procurement governance, contract management, and audit processes.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Pronto, or similar.
- Professional certification (CIPS, Compliance, Audit, or Risk Management) is an added advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Must be Exceptional in analysing data.

Roles and Responsibilities
